Species-Specific Training Information

The IACUC has adopted a new procedure for Principal Investigators and research staff to complete the training required by the Animal Welfare Act and Public Health Service Policy. Based on each individual's experience related to the species he/she will work with and the procedures he/she will perform, species-specific training is required in addition to the IACUC basic training. 

Species specific training modules offered online by the IACUC:

• Amphibians (Basic Training)
• Amphibians (Husbandry Training)
• Cats
• Beef Cattle
• Dairy Cattle
• Dogs
• Fish (Basic Training)
• Fish (Husbandry Training)
• Horses
• Poultry
• Rabbit
• Rodents (Basic Training)
• Rodents (Husbandry Training)
• Sheep
• Swine
• Exceptions: Species-specific training for birds and reptiles should be provided by the Principal Investigator.
• Additional training may be required and provided by the Principal Investigator.
